HOW DO I ADD
GREEN TREE SEARCH TO CHROME?
The Problem
The effects of human-caused global warming are already having widespread effects on the environment: glaciers and ice sheets are shrinking, river and lake ice is breaking up earlier, plant and animal geographic ranges are shifting, and plants and trees are blooming sooner. Weather patterns are shifting causing increased precipitation and flooding in some areas, and drought in others. Wildfire season is longer and more severe in the west. Hurricanes continue to become stronger and more intense. Global sea level has risen approximately 8 inches, and scientists predict it will continue to rise at least another foot by 2100. These effects will worsen as long as humans continue to add greenhouse gases to the atmosphere.
Responding to climate change is imperative, and can be done in a two-pronged approach: mitigation and adaptation. Adaptation will require adapting to the climate change already taking place. Mitigation will require reducing emissions of and stabilizing the levels of heat-trapping greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. That's where we come in...
Our Solution: Plant Power
One of the many ways we can help mitigate this issue is through simply planting more trees.
Restoration of forests could help capture 205 billion tonnes of carbon (2/3 of man-made carbon emissions!) and help with our global crisis, preserving the world for future generations.
We are teaming up with OneTreePlanted.org to help everyone plant trees and help us get to carbon neutral. You can even choose where you'd like to see trees planted, locally or anywhere in the world - download our Chrome extension at home or at work and join the movement today!
